I began blogging by accident!
Like many teachers I had
accumulated a mass of personal teaching material over the years (all of which
I was storing on pen drives) and then one day disaster struck. One of my most
important pen drives burnt out. Though I had part of the material backed up,
I still lost a lot. Looking for a better place to back up my material brought
me to “The Cloud”, (something I knew nothing about). I soon discovered that for me the easiest
way to access the cloud was by using Google BlogSpot. After a lot of trial and error I learnt how
to create pdf files and store them in the cloud ready for me to print out.
When some students asked if
they could access my blog in order to do extra language practice, I agreed.
To my surprise, once I opened up my material, people from all over the world
began to access it as well! When messages of gratitude began to arrive I
began to feel that I was contributing something worthwhile to society.
Today I receive a constant stream
of messages from my blog users. Many suggesting ways I can improve what I am
doing and the material I have published. The result is that a lot of material
I have posted is in now the result of a group effort (and is much better than
the original material I had produced alone).
Thank you to everyone who is contributing
to this project!
