WILL / GOING TO (Basic)

Use “will” when:  
·     
  You decide to do
  something at the time of speaking. 
·     
  You are predicting the
  future saying what you THINK will happen. 
Use  “going” to when:   
·     
  You have already DECIDED to
  do something and you are talking about previous plans. 
·     You are predicting the future by using present evidence (i.e. the situation
  now makes you BELIEVE that    
  something is going to happen). | 
1. Fill in the blanks with “will” or are
/ is /are “going to”:
(A)   You are at a car rental office, talking to the car
rental agent. You planned to rent a   
         compact when you arrive
at your destination, but he is trying to convince you to rent
          a van.
         You say: “Ok, we ___________________________

(B)  Two days later you write a letter to your friends:
       Lucy and I have already

   Agent:    It’s $70.00 per day.
   John:      Does it include
unlimited mileage?
   Agent:    It includes insurance, tax and
unlimited mileage
   John:      That’s great. I’ll take
it.
   Agent:    Can you fill in this form please.

taken. Probably has already paid for the rented van).

      “It is hot now but I think
it will rain later.” (Reason: not sure if it will rain or not).
(D)  Someone asks you about the weather in your city.
      “It is cloudy and windy. I
am sure it is going to rain later.” (Reason: Certain).
