Much and Many both mean a lot.

Much is used with a singular (uncountable noun). 

·         People don't understand how much time and work it takes to make build a house. (Time is uncountable).

Many is used with a plural (countable) noun.

·         Many people like to go shopping on weekends. (People are countable).
